Diversions Pt 2

April 4, 2010

Here it is : the embedded video of the footage I shot driving through Meekatharra. I have cut out a few minutes in the middle (where I was refuelling the truck) and trimmed the start and finish, otherwise, that’s it.

When time allows I will try to post a more professional looking clip with titles and using some other footage I have. At the moment though, time is a scarce commodity.

Diversions

March 29, 2010

Got a little bored this morning so thought I would attatch my Panasonic video camera to the side of my third trailer and film a little bit of Meekatharra.

I have a pretty sturdy twin suction cup camera mount which will let me position my camera just about anywhere there is a glass or (clean) painted surface. I always improvise some sort of a safety tether when mounting it externally on a moving vehicle – it would break my heart to see it lose suction and hit the road at 100km/h or go under a wheel(s).

I positioned the video camera on the rear right side of my rear (3rd) trailer, facing it forward so it would capture all three trailers and the prime mover as well as the street scene in the main street of Meekatharra as I drove through, refuelled, and continued on, leaving the town behind.

I am posting this from “on the road” but as soon as I can upload the video to Youtube I will embed it here.

Ambiguity Abounds (or Mumbojumbo Manifests)

March 3, 2010

I’m on my way north with three trailers and five drops. Well, I’m pretty sure there’s freight on board for five different clients and I’m certain of the name and location of four of them. Client number five is the problem.

Conflicting paperwork has me unloading at Meekatharra or Karratha which is something I have to sort out ASAP. Karratha is close to a 12hr drive from Meeka.

As Pretty As A Bride

March 1, 2010

Just had to post this pic I took a month or two ago using my iPhone. It was early morning not too far north of Meekatharra. I really wish I’d had my DSLR with me but it was one of those times when I had no intention of looking for shots-it was just there so I snapped it with what I had to hand.

Dusting Off The Cobwebs

February 25, 2010

Thought I’d better show some TLC towards my blog. It’s not that I’d forgotten about it – it’s just that I haven’t been able to find the time! So, to break the dry spell, I thought I would chuck a quick picture or two up here.
Swapping Trailers

First pic is me in the process of dropping one empty trailer before hooking onto my remaining two loaded trailers prior to unloading them at the Packsaddle Camp, Area C minesite.
Pub!

Second pic was taken in the main street of Meekatharra, Western Australia. I was heading north on a hot afternoon and saw the Pub in the distance and almost chucked it in for the day 😉
